Magic of the girls continues

The humble person silently performs their job they doesn’t cry for any publicity or fame for their doings. This is perfectly applicable for the Women’s Hockey Team of India. When the entire country is busy in watching the county cricket league Indian Premier League (IPL) and cheering for them these girls got no support and cheering from the country side have created history.
It was a super Sunday for the Indian sports lovers as there was the final match of the Women’s Hockey World League, Vancouver. Indian Senior Women’s team as they triumphed over Chile in the final of the Women’s Hockey World League Round 2. The final match was on 9th of April 2017, i.e. Saturday in Canada but it was 10th of April , Sunday for India.
Savita Punia, who was adjudged the Goalkeeper of The Tournament, was outstanding under the bar as she denied scoring chances to Kim Jacob and Josefa Villalabeitia which gave India a head start in the shootout. Skipper Rani Rampal and Monika Malik took India’s score to 2-0 with two successive goals in shootout. Though Carolina Garcia scored in Chile’s third attempt, India’s Deepika Thakur converted India’s third goal to win the match.
This was not an easy job for these girls to grab the trophy as both the teams ended the match regular time with 1-1. The match was pulled to the extra time where Indian Goal keeper Savita displayed an extra ordinary performance which was fully supported and complemented by the Skipper Rani and Monika that paved the path of victory of the team. "It was a challenging tournament for us with difficult weather conditions as it rained for a few days but we are extremely thrilled that we are through to the World League Semi-Final," said India skipper Rani after winning the final.
With this win the girls have shown the world that this a sport in which India can count on. This sport always came out as a winner for India. The Women Hockey team won about 20 medals in the international level competitions.
