Bhubaneswar will host the Asian
Athletics Championships from July 6-9. Kalinga Stadium of the Odisha capital
will host the continent's flagship event. Capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi was to
host the event from June 1-4 but it made a late pull out due to financial
issues and Bhubaneswar was then chosen by the Athletics Federation of India as
the venue.
India has already hosted this
event twice once in New Delhi in the year 1989 and in Pune, Maharashtra in the
year 2013. In the year 1989 India successfully hold the gold medals in 8
events. And 9 silver medals and 5 bronze
medals and India ranked second in that championship. In the year 2013 India
earned 5 bronze, 6 silver and 2 gold medals.
With the hope of earning more
