India, with its rising population is a country where nearly 50% of the population are below the age of 25 and more than 60% are below the age of 25 which clearly indicates a rising vibrant population in the days to come. At present almost 350 million Indians are under 15 years of age which provides adequate prospects for growth and development of various sectors. Football is the second most popular sport in the country. With the taking place of the Indian Super League (ISL), the youth of the country on a broader context started developing a genuine interest about Indian Football. Reliance Foundation one of the largest business conglomerates of the country initiated their investments in football since then and it kept on changing tracks both at premiere and grassroots level. According to TAM viewership data during the FIFA World Cup 2010, a whopping 20 Million viewers watched the global football tournament in India, which was a 35% rise from FIFA World Cup viewership in 2006. Youth Football Academies are opening up in various metropolitans to cater to the needs of the young footballers in order to produce quality players for the nation. Henceforth, platforms like ISL and I-League are constantly striving to create an opportunitiy for young players in developing their game skills and tactics. Corporate Investments pave a firm way in creating such a scenario in driving the young players to the field and provding them an acknowledgement to make the show run. National and International Brands, the likes of which exists; Adidas, Nike, Puma,Audi, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Kingfisher, JSW, Tata to name a few have invested in Indian Soccer which certainly promises a bright future for Indian Football.
After the staging of the U-17 Fifa World Cup in India, it’s quite sure that the country has the ability and proficiency to administer one of th biggest championships in football. Along with that bigger and better Corporate Investors were able to build relationships with the executive bodies of the country to benefit the preceding years of Indian Football.

Sponsorship in Indian Football

Sponsorship in Indian Football has gone a long way since some years. Since the original  National Football League , the Indian league has always been sponsored. When the I-League began in 2007 the last sponsor from the old National Football League,  ONGC , where brought in as the sponsors, making the league be known as the ONGC I-League. However, after the  2010–11  seasons, the deal with ONGC was not renewed and the I-League was left without a sponsorship deal till 2013. On 24 September 2013, it was announced that  telecommunications  company,  Airtel  would be the new title sponsor of the I-League, thus making the league known as the  Airtel I-League.
