SPORTS KEY TO MENTAL FITNESS

It is quite interesting to say that sports do not only involve physical fitness but it also involves mental fitness. A Sportsperson is not only physically strong but they have immense mental strength. As they come across both success and failure so they do not get disappointed on the failure. This quality itself is known as “sportsman spirit”, the spirit of not losing the hope to achive victory. There are a good number of sportsperson who have over came their physical disability because of this strength. The players like Yuvraj Singh, an Indian Cricket player diagnosed with lungs cancer during 2011-12 but he did not broke down and surrendered him to the ailment but he fought against it and get back to action in the 2012, September.
 Playing a game is a very serious job to do but it provides pleasure to the player and the persons who watch it. Any sport involves some basic common feature the urge to win, to improve the performance, to beat the previous record of self or of other. The victory of one player or team is not only enjoyed by that player or team only but it is celebrated by the follower of the game or the supporter of the team or individual player. This brings the feel of brotherhood among the followers.
In the recent year, research has also found that sports participation can positively affect ones mental health. Benefits can be listed as follows:
1.       IMPROVE MOOD- Playing sports, working out at a gym, or taking a brisk walk, physical activity triggers brain chemicals that make a person feel happier and more relaxed.
2.       SOCIAL CIRCLE- Team sports in particular provide a chance to unwind and engage in a satisfying challenge that improves your fitness. They also provide social benefits by allowing you to connect with teammates and friends in a recreational setting.
3.       CONCENTRATION-Sports help a person to gather ones concentration to a single point or object. This quality helps a person in the other spheres of live too.
4.       REDUCE STRESS AND DEPRESSION- When a person is physically active, his/her mind is distracted from daily stressors. This can help one avoid getting bogged down by negative thoughts. Exercise reduces the levels of stress hormones in a person’s body. At the same time, it stimulates production of endorphins. These are natural mood lifters that can keep stress and depression at bay. Endorphins may even leave an individual feeling more relaxed and optimistic after a hard workout. 
5.       IMPROVE SLEEP HABIT- Sports and other forms of physical activity improve the quality of sleep. They do this by helping a person fall asleep faster and deepening his/her sleeps. Sleeping better can improve his/her mental outlook the next day, as well as improve his/her mood. Just be careful not to engage in sports too late in the day. Evening practices within a few hours of bedtime may leave you too energized to sleep.
6.       BOOST SELF CONFIDENCE- The regular exercise that comes with playing sports can boost a person’s confidence and improve your self-esteem. As his/her strength, skills, and stamina increase through playing sports, a person’s self-image will improve as well.
